It used to be that there were only two types of schools: public and private. However, there are now charter schools out there. Charter schools are independent schools that aren't' affiliated with a school district, but they receive government funding to help keep them afloat. The fun thing about charter schools is that many of them have an emphasis to help kids focus on one area that they like for the majority of the time while still getting in the rest of the fundamentals. Whether your child is into science or the arts, this article will take a closer look at a few different styles of K-8 public charter schools to consider putting your child in. Ready to learn a little bit more? If so, then read on.

Science

If your son or daughter really likes doing science experiments and is really into space, then you may want to consider putting them into a science-based charter school. These charter schools will place an emphasis on physics, biology, space, and science experiments so that your child can become better versed in these areas. While the majority of their day will be spent focusing on the sciences, the rest of their day they will learn how about English and math.

Language

If you want your child to learn a second or third language, then a charter school may be the way to go. A lot of charter schools perform by using a dual immersion philosophy which means that half of the day they will learn in English and the other half they will learn in another language. These types of programs will allow your child to flourish in their new language and learn how to use it in just about every subject. Plus, they can practice it with their friends.

Arts

Whether your child likes plays, dance, painting, or any other type of art form, going into a school that has an emphasis in the arts will help to keep them occupied. The fun thing about a school in the arts is that they will get to take classes that surround all different types of arts including things like pottery and sewing. Then from there, they may discover a new love for something else that they normally wouldn't' have discovered.

Now that you know a few different charter school options that you have, it's time to start researching schools that are near you.
